This paper aims to develop a methodology that may assist to offer a analysis of the city quality of housing estates. The approach relies on city morphology from a diachronic perspective, since the transformation processes are assessed from the preliminary situation to the present one. Through the fundamental elements that outline the city type the proposed methodology works with 9 ‘physical’ variables. The specific analysis provided by the methodology helps in the definition of regeneration methods for open spaces. The methodology was tested for 3 case studies in Spanish cities. There is a scarcity of readability in city morphology in using the terms ‘plot’ and ‘lot’.
